Limited Submissions

Limited Submission Opportunities

Each year a number of federal and non-federal funders announce funding opportunities and awards for which the school or university is either restricted to submit a limited number of applications or is required to endorse nominees. Applications for these awards are available by invitation only (i.e., potential candidates may not apply directly to the specific foundations for these programs) and thus nominees must be internally screened and selected.

To view the current opportunities, refer to ORSD's Limited Submission Opportunities.

Limited Submission Categories

Limited submission opportunities fall into the following categories and are reviewed through different mechanisms

Harvard Chan Competitions:  The Office of Research Strategy and Development will coordinate internal reviews for opportunities in which funders limit the number of applications that will be accepted from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

University-Wide Competitions: The Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR) will coordinate internal review and selection of nominees in cases where the funder has established a limit on the total number of applications that will be accepted from across the university.

University-Wide Competitions Related to Biological Sciences: For a set of awards related to the biological sciences, internal review and selection of candidates is managed by the University Committee on Biological Sciences (UCBS), which is composed of representatives from the School of Public Health, the Medical School, and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.  Current UCBS competitions. Applications may be submitted through the UCBS website for the following awards: Burroughs Wellcome Career Award for Medical Scientists, Burroughs Wellcome Investigators in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease Award, Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Development Award, Pew Scholars Program.
